Lea Jakob
Bio
Lea Jakob is a research associate and PhD student specializing in Arts Management and Arts Entrepreneurship. She currently holds positions as a researcher at the Institute of Management & Organisation at Leuphana University and as a lecturer in Arts Management at Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences. Since 2023, she is the project coordinator for the “Leuphana Concert Lab,” a new transdisciplinary teaching initiative.
With a background in International Cultural and Business Studies (University of Passau) and a Master’s degree in Management and Entrepreneurship from Leuphana University, she has obtained professional experience in marketing, fundraising, project management, and music education. She has worked with organizations including Elbphilharmonie & Laeiszhalle, TONALi, Heidelberger Frühling and the Balthasar Neumann Ensembles. From 2015 – 2022 she was the project coordinator of the Cuban-European Youth Academy, where she developed exchange and training programs for young classical musicians in Europe and Cuba.
Aside from her academic roles, Lea Jakob works as a cultural manager, collaborating with orchestras such as the Orchester im Treppenhaus and the Havana Lyceum Orchestra. Her research interests encompass – among others – the resilience of musical communities in times of crises, a topic she explores in her doctoral thesis under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Raphaela Henze and Prof. Dr. Sigrid Bekmeier-Feuerhahn.
